Think of Yourself as My API, Just Callable
Description
A Baldur's Gate 3 screenshot of the Emperor, a purple-and-crimson mind flayer in ornate spiked armor, facing a blond player character whose sword is visible at left. White overlay text reads: "think of yourself as my API" and "not equal, just callable". The game subtitle at the bottom says: "The Emperor: Consider using the tadpole. Your evolution will be a benefit to us both." The joke maps the Emperor's manipulative alliance onto API design: you are an endpoint to invoke, not a peer, with the tadpole as the client library you cannot uninstall.

The Emperor's API contract: you're callable, not equal, and the tadpole is the auth token you swallow.
