Stuffing Kimi K3 2.8T Into a 3090
Description
A street photo of a bearded man with a man bun in a blue T-shirt and maroon pants trying to ram a huge cardboard-and-black fridge-sized box into the trunk of a small silver hatchback parked along a brick building, with other cars, bins, and passersby behind. White labels: the hatchback is "My 3090," the oversized box is "Kimi K3 - 2.8T." The joke is Moonshot's July 2026 Kimi K3 open-weight release—2.8 trillion total parameters, sparse MoE with far fewer active per token, weights on the order of a terabyte-plus—versus the still-common RTX 3090's 24GB VRAM. Open weights are downloadable; local inference is shoving a fridge into a compact.

Open weights means you can download the fridge. A 3090 means you still have a hatchback.
