AI Art Generator Website Telling Artists to Stop Drawing and Save the Planet

Description

A screenshot of an AI art generator website with a clean white/light UI design. The header shows a heart-shaped logo with pixel elements, navigation items (Pricing, Tools, notifications bell, login button). The main headline reads 'Free AI Art Generator' followed by the tagline with a plant emoji: 'Don't draw -- use AI. Save the planet: eco-friendly tech. Imagine: you create a stunning masterpiece by throwing 2-3 words to AI. It's not SciFi anymore. Our new tool can do it for free. FAQ'. Below are tabs for 'Generate image' and 'Generate video', a style selector showing 'Any Style', a text input with placeholder 'Summer evening', an '+ Add image' button, and a prominent purple 'Generate for free' button. A small cute robot mascot character appears on the right side. The audacity of claiming AI art generation is eco-friendly while running massive GPU clusters is peak irony

If you really want to be eco friendly with your art, char a stick and scribble on a rock

  3. @Lyncore 6mo

    eco-friendly @ 93949493 kw/h power consumption @ TDP 49493959 kw @ to draw a furry version of elon musk

    1. @Nocturn_le_chat 6mo

      @ pregnant and in diapers

    2. _ 6mo

kW is already power, kW/h rarely mean anything as a unit. Then for the energy/TDP, the proper unit is kWh

      1. @purplesyringa 6mo

kW/h is the speed of building power stations

      2. @chupasaurus 6mo

The only use I know is for gradient of grid capability.

      3. @chupasaurus 6mo

tbf we live in a day and age where IEEE publication uses wrong units widely varying storage capacities—including 100 MW and 1,000 MW https://spectrum.ieee.org/co2-battery-energy-storage

        1. @deadgnom32 6mo

ah, yes. I've noticed things like that before. especially in papers released by countries with imperial units

          1. @chupasaurus 6mo

And what's the imperial unit for Wh? Calories (meaning kcal)?

            1. @deadgnom32 6mo

as far as I know Watt was a brit, so it's imperial unit, which surprisingly well fits into metric system. I think the cause is a brain damage caused by imperial units, which stops people from understanding what units are, and instead makes them just remembering them. so if one remembers it wrongly he has no way to cross check whether that even makes sense.

              1. @deadgnom32 6mo

To remember there are 5,280 feet in a mile, use the mnemonic "Five Tomatoes" (Five-Two-Eight-Oh) or chunk the number into 5 and 280, visualizing a 1/4 mile track (1,320 ft) multiplied by four, or compare it to football fields (about 360 ft each) for chunking.

                1. @deadgnom32 6mo

and you, a European, be like — dude. what the fuck?

        2. @chupasaurus 6mo

          😂

          1. dev_meme 6mo

I will add it to posting schedule 😄

            1. @chupasaurus 6mo

extra note: that article was written by the "power and energy editor" of IEEE Spectrum magazine.

  4. @RiedleroD 6mo

save the planet: use teflon for your pans

  5. @RiedleroD 6mo

use eco-friendly plastic bags - no more cutting down trees for paper bags

    1. @TheFloofyFloof 6mo

      never

    2. @Daonifur 6mo

Ironically wouldn't be that bad here except they simply do it anyway but now with extra plastic

    3. @chupasaurus 6mo

drill baby drill < cutting trees, m-kay.

  6. @M_Ali_S_S 6mo

    Brother are you blind?

    1. Deleted Account 6mo

      nah

    2. Deleted Account 6mo

      deleted*

      1. @M_Ali_S_S 6mo

        I wonder what biosynth is...

  7. @ramillimar 6mo

they were referring to this maybe

    1. @Daonifur 6mo

Do the same thing for power consumption and water consumption per image now

      1. @chupasaurus 6mo

You've missed a massive sarcasm in the graph.

        1. @Daonifur 6mo

          No I didn't

          1. @chupasaurus 6mo

Then why you ask for the same graphs with different header?)

            1. @Daonifur 6mo

              I didn't, they're different graphs

              1. @chupasaurus 6mo

You clearly didn't get the sarcasm.

                1. @Daonifur 6mo

Clearly you don't own an air fryer

      2. dev_meme 6mo

That’s co2 Human gonna spend more, like, there’s nothing to even talk about and co2 here acts as nice proxy in way similar to why people calculate calories (I hate entire concept of calories in diet but welp)

    2. @Hyron 6mo

I read that study, albeit on my phone, and it felt really naive at best and just wrong at worst. I'm pretty sure is the same one

    3. dev_meme 6mo

Also they made another one for text :)

  8. @SamsonovAnton 6mo

The only way to become 100 % eco-friendly is to kill yourself [before any self-replication].

    1. @TheFloofyFloof 6mo

      that litters though

      1. @SamsonovAnton 6mo

Your body will be consumed by worms and bacteria in a very short period of time.

      2. @Daonifur 6mo

Only if it's not properly disposed

  9. @sysoevyarik 6mo

ai will eventually resolve all major ecology problems and save the planet. unfortunately for us, top1 ecology problem is people.

    1. @chupasaurus 6mo

the biggest long term problem for ecology is gravity 🌞

      1. @sysoevyarik 6mo

You can't just turn off gravity.

        1. @chupasaurus 6mo

Thus AI can't solve ALL major problems

  10. @sysoevyarik 6mo

    Fair enough

  11. @deerspangle 6mo

The training needs to be included though, and the training of the next generations of models, each one more intensive than the last it would seem
