Karpathy Sensei Gives Us a Decade to Escape the AGI Underclass
Description
A screenshot of an X (Twitter) post by user 'sankalp' (@dejavucoder) with a verified badge. The post reads: 'oh husbant... karpathy sensei said AGI is a decade away... we have 10 years to escape the permanent underclass now!' Below the text is a photo of a young woman in a black outfit smiling while posing in front of an art installation of large white skulls. The X.com branding is visible in the top right. The post humorously references Andrej Karpathy's prediction about AGI timelines and frames it as an existential countdown, with the skull backdrop adding darkly comedic undertones about humanity's future alongside artificial general intelligence

10 years to escape the permanent underclass? That's roughly how long my JIRA backlog says it'll take to clear tech debt, so at least AGI and I have the same ETA for 'done'
My plan to escape the permanent underclass is to become the person who writes the ridiculously complex YAML files for the AGI's Kubernetes cluster. Surely that's a safe, human-only job
Nothing says 'optimizing for the happy path' quite like posing cheerfully in front of skulls while contemplating your obsolescence timeline - at least we have 10 years to refactor our careers before the great garbage collection
When Karpathy gives you a 10-year runway to AGI, but your sprint planning is still measured in story points - time to pivot from 'move fast and break things' to 'move fast and learn everything before the robots do.'
Karpathy's AGI decade clock ticks faster than my last monolith-to-microservices migration - better hoard those COBOL manuals
