Math Now: Breakthrough, Continue, Just Do It
Description
An X/Twitter screenshot of a verified post by Merkaloid (@Mercaloid) quote-tweeting Matt Shumer (@mattshumer_). The top panel is titled "Math now:" and shows four Wojak-style figures labeled left to right: a smug brainlet under "do a breakthrough," a head with an exposed brain under "continue," a smug smiling Wojak under "just do it," and a wind-up-key brainlet with a tear under "find the proof." The quoted tweet says "So another long-standing open conjecture was disproved by AI," beside cropped ChatGPT screenshots mentioning a Goemans conjecture counterexample, prompts such as "do a breakthrough" and "it's enough of partial results... finish with a complete unconditional counterexample," and a "Complete finite counterexample" result after "Worked for 88m 24s." The post shows 252 likes and 90K views. It satirizes July 2026 coverage of LLMs disproving open math problems via blunt, iterative prompting instead of traditional proof work.

We replaced "without loss of generality" with "just do it," and the conjecture still died after 88 minutes.
