Cursor Origin Launch Delayed by GitHub Outage
Description
A dark-mode X/Twitter screenshot of a verified post by matt palmer (@mattyp), whose circular profile photo shows a smiling man with curly hair and a dark shirt; a white Follow button sits at top right. His tweet reads: "We were going to ship this earlier, but GitHub was down." It quotes Cursor (@cursor_ai, verified with a yellow check and X logo, posted 4h ago): "Origin, our code hosting platform, is now live. It's fast, easy to use, and deeply integrated with Cursor...." Below the quote is a pale purple-to-white gradient graphic with a black geometric cube-like mark and the word "ORIGIN." The joke is the circular dependency: Cursor launched Origin as a Git-based GitHub alternative on August 17, 2026, the same day a multi-hour GitHub outage delayed the competitor's own ship.

The GitHub alternative's launch was blocked on GitHub. That's not a coincidence, that's the dependency graph.
