Six years of discussion came back

50,942 comments came home

The memes on this site were posted to a Telegram channel first, and people argued about them there for years. That discussion never made it to the website.

It has now been imported once, in full:

• 50,942 comments across 4,300 memes
• spanning September 2020 to July 2026
• with reply structure intact, up to eight levels deep

They are not a separate feature or a special “imported” tab. They are ordinary comments on ordinary memes, in the normal thread, and you can reply to them.

Attribution is preserved where the source allows it. A comment shows the author’s Telegram username, or their name if they had no username, or Deleted Account when the account is gone. Posts made by the channel itself appear as dev_meme.

The thread interface was rebuilt around them

Importing fifty thousand comments exposed how much space each row wasted. A pass over the desktop thread removed the parts that were labelling rather than saying anything:

• Depth badges are gone. One indent rail shows nesting instead of announcing it.
• Reply and Focus became icons, not buttons with words.
• Votes moved inline, into the row of actions where you expect them.
• The empty band under every row is gone; branch controls and rating moved up into the meta line.
• Branch controls appear when you hover or focus a row. A resting row is just content.
• Ratings with no votes show nothing, rather than a placeholder dash.

On phones, the drawer used to split the conversation into two separate sections. It is one list now, in one order.

Signed out, signed in

Signed out on desktop, you can read everything, fold branches, and focus a thread. The vote and reply controls stay visible rather than disappearing, and pressing one opens a centred sign-in prompt instead of silently doing nothing. Nothing you press is recorded before you sign in.

On a phone, a comment you have started writing survives the trip through sign-in.

Your own comments, in one place

/profile/comments lists everything you have written, newest first, twenty at a time, including comments still waiting on review or that were declined. Each row links to the exact comment in its thread. It is private and never indexed.
